New claims for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week to 212,000.
Economists were predicting 215,000.
The previous week's claims were revised higher to 208,000, though claims remain in the range of a healthy job market.
Those remaining on benefits continuing claims declined to 1.83 million.
Continuing claims were estimated at 1.85 million.
That reading hit a 52-year low of 1.3 million in June of 2022.
The February employment report will be released by the Labor Department on Friday, March 6th.
