CEO Jack Dorsey is suggesting artificial intelligence tools are performing more work.

The cuts are expected to impact more than 4,000 employees.

In a post to staff, Dorsey said the decision isn't because the company's in trouble.

He's wrestled with whether to cut gradually over months or years as the shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now.

New claims for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week to 212,000.

Economists were predicting 215,000.

The previous week's claims were revised higher to 208,000, though claims remain in the range of a healthy job market.

Those remaining on benefits continuing claims declined to 1.83 million.

Continuing claims were estimated at 1.85 million.

That reading hit a 52-year low of 1.3 million in June of 2022.

The February employment report will be released by the Labor Department on Friday, March 6th.
