the final season, Gary, which was a flashback episode featuring Richie and Mikey, Evan Moss-Backrack and Jon Bernthal, that felt like the acting exercise it was.

It's there to show how lost Richie was back then and how he was in a bad place because he loved someone who clearly hated himself and how that curdles absolutely everything.

But it highlighted for me something that that speech at the end kind of highlights too, which is that every so often in this show, I pick up a faint whiff of
