But what happens if Steve Clarke is over there and has a fantastic tournament?

You know, the SFA might then look and think, we'll be looking for a new manager here because club football would come calling.

A Premier League club or something.

Exactly.

So...

The SFA have looked at this situation and probably thought to themselves, couple of things, he deserves it, let's reward him, let's send him over there with the confidence, take all the pressure, worrying about what's going to happen or not.

But also, they've sort of covered their back a little bit, right?

Because at the end of the day...

you can't eventually sack managers.

There might be a clause in that contract that, like all other managers, that you get paid so much, if the sack guy gets paid so much or whatever it may be.

But if Steve Clarke went over there, had a great tournament with Scotland, everybody was excited going forward, and all of a sudden SFA and Scotland lose their manager because he's done that well, he's grabbed the headlines, then all of a sudden you're thinking, who's got to replace him?

Mm-hmm.

So there's a bit of both.

I see what Thomas is saying.

But there's also another bit there that he could go over there and do very well.

And we're then going, oh no, why did we not tie him up when he wanted this new contract?

We've been left sleeping.

So it's a 50-50 a little bit.

Thomas, do you agree that he's probably earned the right to be offered that contract?
