I had an interview the next day for a different job.

And Alan rings.

And I remember being so excited to hear him.

I didn't know what time they were planning to be at Summerfair.

I was thinking they'd done it.

He was talking and even I felt I could hear James in the background going, we done it, baby, you know.

And Alan was just saying, are you sitting down, Grace?

You know, I don't know how to say this.

And it just, it wasn't registering.

And he just said, Jimmy's dead.

that his friends called him Jimmy um at the time they thought it was a heart attack it wasn't he said Jimmy's dead I don't remember much after that I remember sitting on the ground and next and everyone looking at me I just couldn't breathe I remember sitting up and everyone was around me um

So it's just so surreal to think this has happened.

We went upstairs.

A lovely woman brought us, me and Lily, upstairs.

And next, she asked me what happened.

And I said, my husband died.

And Lily said, no, ma'am, you said he had a heart attack.

So I must say, and then I started thinking, maybe he did.

Maybe I heard him wrong.

So I rang Alan back again.
