If you believe as I do,
that we can change our politics and change our country, then you must also believe that people can change.
And the reason I believe that is because I have lived it.
And the reason that I have lived it is because of my wife.
So the increased ice activity that we've been waiting to begin has commenced.
Today, raids across the state of Maine took place primarily in the Portland and Lewiston areas.
The administration has announced that they're calling it Operation Catch of the Day, which I assume is some jokey riff on our fishing industry.
This is not a joke.
People were taken dropping their children off at school.
parents are being ripped away from their kids families broken up communities terrorized keep in mind when you see the videos of ice agents snatching up mainers that the majority of people is detained over the past few months have had no criminal records they've been detaining american citizens this is not targeted
They don't have some deep intelligence to go after the worst of the worst like they say.
They are simply going after people for their race, for their accents, just on the suspicion that they might not be here legally.
Many of them are here legally and the ICE agents don't care.
The thing that isn't a joke is the way Mainers are going to respond.
We do not abide people coming in and terrorizing our communities.
ICE needs to prepare itself for the fact that Mainers stand up for each other.
We stand up for our neighbors.
We stand up for the people that we love and care for.
That's no laughing matter.
And they're going to learn that.
