It's such a tough competition.

We know that.

But we want to try and think in the short term in terms of results and being competitive in the games and at the same time giving us something that can go forward in maybe the longer term.

think that that's the beauty of the premier league you can do a lot well and and one moment one action can undo you that's that's the the such the the test of it uh andy carroll comes on you can see the environment completely changes even though we were quite you know doing okay in the game he comes on and they lift the crowd it's like they scored almost with the noise so that's a challenge as well but i thought we did it we did it quite well they got a lad making his premier league debut today i thought he equipped himself really well and like i said we're at the start of a process i think we'll

We'll get better, but I'm delighted with their application.

Well, he looked like he was comfortable out there, and that's all credit to him.

From day one in pre-season, he's trained with the group, so every day we've seen his quality.

Of course, it's that next step to go into the Premier League, but he's trained with us, hasn't looked out of place.

Him and Aaron Connolly have both impressed, and I think he's good for the club, good for the academy that we work with, that there's some players that can maybe influence the game in the Premier League.

Yeah, exactly.

And like I said, there's a good foundation of people.

They're defended really well.

Good spirit, good organisation, good understanding.

And like you say, you need a bit of a mix, you need a balance, you need to be able to run in behind, you need to be able to play, you need to be able to defend the box, you need to be able to...

attacking the wide areas, that's what all the top teams do, they test you in all the areas, and we're trying to do that, of course.

Some bits we did well, and some bits we can improve as well, of course.

Yeah, you're trying to work with the environment here, aren't you?

If you can quieten the crowd and not get them involved in the game so much, it's, I think, a benefit for us.

So we tried to do that.

But at the same time, you need to be progressive with your possession.
