And especially in those days in the fifties and sixties, people didn't talk about money very much.

It was a taboo subject.

Yeah, a lot of f a lot of families don't talk about it, but they used to talk about it all the time because they were wanting to get ahead.

And um they had a few friends too who were kinda in the same boat.

So I used to sit very quietly in the corner and just listen to it all.

Ne never say much.

And, you know, I remember quite often they go, You still here?

Go to bed, you know. 'Cause I'd just be sitting there listening to stuff.

But

Yeah, they didn't even necessarily I think know what they were doing, but they were always discussing things and thinking about things and trying new things on.

And yeah, some of them worked and some of them didn't.

Yeah, well it was that was pretty tough working there because he'd Barry just started that business.

I think he was into it six months.

And they trained you by

You know, doing a few jobs and um

Yeah, he gave me the sheet that was I think sixteen ways or fourteen ways to close the sale and went on a few calls with him and then it's like, right, go and sell something, you know, you're on your own.

That particular story.

It's w one that really stands out for me because he said, Go and see this guy at Marine Services in Hamilton.

He said, Um, you know, he hasn't done anything with us for a while.

So I went to see this guy and I can't remember his name, but I remember the company.
