And this one's quite rude, but we called him a dwarf billionaire.
And a man who was working with him was a man called John Scanlon, who was a famous PR guy in New York at the time.
And he was a friend of mine and he called me up.
He was always saying, Graydon, you've gone too far.
But he calls up this time and said, Graydon, you've really gone too far.
I said, what do you mean?
He said, Larry Tisch.
He said, well, first of all, he's not technically a dwarf.
So I just wrote that down.

So the next month we did a column on this, but we said we have a correction to make.
We got a call from a CBS factotum.
pointing out that Larry is not technically a dwarf.
Even greater flurry of angry phone calls.
You don't start a satirical magazine in New York to make money.
Private Eye, it's a unicorn.
It grew too fast.
We planned a magazine that would have a circulation of about 25,000 copies in New York.
But within three issues, we were having to send them out to Los Angeles and then Washington and then London and then Canada.
