Surgery on Patrick Mahomes' left knee won't take place until the results of a second opinion of a doctor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says it's routine for players to seek a second opinion, but no matter what, Reid says Mahomes will be ready for the recovery process.
Mahomes was hurt in the Chiefs' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, which eliminated Kansas City from the playoff picture for the first time since 2014.
Green Bay defensive lineman Micah Parsons is also out for the season with a knee injury.
