But year by year, we will be penalized with slightly higher interest rates, which then will ripple through to everybody else. voice-verified

And then there is a possibility, not the probability, but the possibility that something could really go wrong. voice-verified

Because of all the money that we have to borrow, the Treasury has to go to the market every week and ask for more money, buy more of our Treasury bills, more of our Treasury bonds. voice-verified

And if they happen to do that one week when the world's worried about something, maybe a trade war, maybe a war with Iran or something like that, maybe they don't manage to sell all that debt and you have a disaster in the markets. voice-verified
