And if we understand our customers, we can offer them products and services that are much, much cheaper than trying to keep building more and more rigidity.
Right.
Why an octopus?
I tell you what, we were originally going to be called Positive Energy.
We had a great logo, by the way.
I loved it.
We loved it, whatever your reaction.
Anyway, our first investor was called Octopus Investments.
And they agreed to invest an awful lot of money to build our big idea.
A week before we finalized the investment, they said, would you call it Octopus Energy?
And we were like, oh, no, slimy tentacle suckers.
It was before the Netflix, once it was Teacher, before the book.
Obviously, we wanted the investment.
So in good spirit, we went away and said, how do you make an octopus cute?
And the answer was big eyes and short tentacles and a smile.
And you know what?
Just before they made the investment, they said, actually, please don't call it Octopus Energy.
And we were like, we're calling it Octopus.
And I am so glad because it's memorable, playful, and it's enabled us to make a real connection in an industry where so many people don't even know the name of the company that supplies them.
