Now, ocean acidification is a different question.

So as the ocean becomes more acidic and kills off some of these coral, maybe that eliminates that.

But the Chinese islands, of course, are all dead.

There's no living

living coral under them.

But I'm gonna be going on a family vacation to the outer banks in a couple of weeks.

I don't know how many tons of sand the state of North Carolina trucked in this spring to keep the outer banks from being washed out, but China will continue to do the same.

So this is an engineering challenge.

But as long as China's willing to keep up with it, it's not one that that climate change is going to eliminate.

Climate change will eliminate some of the triggers for conflict, but not in ways we want.

So as climate change worsens what's already

potentially like extinction level events for the fisheries in the South China Sea.

more and more small and artisanal operators in the Philippines and Vietnam and Malaysia will have to start driving taxis and finding other means of livelihood because they already have to go out for weeks to catch what they used to consider bait fish.

It's increasingly not a viable livelihood.

mostly that's because of overfishing and massive ecological destruction, including the island building campaigns.

But it'll be made worse by climate change.

So that's a perverse

Fact, but yeah, there will be less fisheries conflict in the South China Sea because there's less fish.

And significant strain on coastal economies where you can't how do you support tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people, not just the fishers themselves, but those involved in fish processing, in local markets, in the larger fisheries industry who will need to move into some other means of life.

So this is not like I don't think we should be cheering this, but yeah, there will be less fisheries conflict because the fisheries in the South Channel Sea are collapsing at a rate that should scare us.
