A joint Compass-MRED press release from April announcing MRED's purported national expansion promised that Compass would provide all of its nationwide listings to MRED and subsidized memberships for up to 100,000 agents.

Compass email showed executives scrambling over subsidy logistics four days after the press release, with one noting that even at a $10 per agent subsidy, quote, would cost us $1 million.
Brode, the attorney, forwarded that email to a colleague with three facepalm emojis.
The colleague replied, quote, what a mess.

So it seems like maybe Robert was cutting some deals that the rest of the team didn't know about, and his own team was like, yeah, this isn't a good thing.
But also it was reported that the membership has not moved at all as far as going up or down.

And the other thing I thought that was interesting that Nick had brought up, and I hadn't read it in any of the other stuff, but just because we're kind of nerds on this, is that Zillow's partnership with Open Door was brought up.
Because there's that thing, you call in, if they don't want to take the offer, they can give you an offer through Opendoor or you can kind of put it on Zillow.
