We call it in tennis being a bunny, and I was his bunny.
He would just absolutely take me apart.
And one time I lost to him, I was laughing because he had just had a warning, and it was break point for me in Vienna.
I was up two sets to love.
This was when there were three out of five set finals, and he broke his racket, so it should have been a point penalty.
I would have been serving for the match.
Chair umpire didn't give it to him.
I lost in five sets, and that one haunts me to this day.
Yeah.
So for him, I found it difficult because you would have to stay with him, hold your serve, and hope he'd have that eruption and lose it mentally.
But he was so, so talented.
Leighton Hewitt was like the human wall.
It was like trying to get through Leighton was nearly impossible.
You'd have to mix the slice up.
You'd have to bring him forward on your terms.
You'd try to attack the second serve, but he had such a flat serve that it didn't bounce up for you to take it on.
He liked to target.
His lob at the time was probably one of the best lobs in our game, especially off the backhand side.
Just incredible pinpoint action.
He didn't overpower.
