Not a view where you view them as tremendous values.

And so Rand thinks any decent person would be motivated to help in that kind of a situation.

And it would be wrong not to.

It would be a failure of the virtue of integrity for her, where integrity is the virtue of acting on your values.

Well, I don't think the whether you know or meet the people is the essential issue.

I mean if you learn about somebody, it's just a less perceptually vivid example of what's happening with the girl on the street.

But I I think there's a question here about how to think about distributive justice and whether that's a reasonable way to think about it.

I think Rand would think that it isn't.

To think of something as distributive justice has the idea that there's some pot of goods and there's someone

or maybe all of us collectively who have some right to distribute those goods and then have to think about what the just way to distribute them is.

And of course there are situations in which that arises.

But to think about society as functioning on a principle of of distributive justice, you have to think of the products, the things that are produced, the material values that you're distributing, or other sorts of values, as at some point being in some common pot, at least morally being owned in common, and then needing to get distributed.

And Rand thinks that that's really wrong.

How did they get here?

Somehow.

Whereas in fact she thinks human beings are productive and the source of values is peoples producing them.

Now, each human being is an individual living organism who she thinks has to act for, pursue his own life and the values it requires individually.

Of course, we can interact and gain a lot from interacting, but the locus of action, the locus of directing, the locus of selecting things as values.
