The man on the mark has to have an opportunity to touch the ball as somebody's having a shot for goal.
So that'll be, I suppose, the dominant rule versus you're not allowed to improve your angle.
Because not around improving your angle is an interesting discussion.
I mean, obviously the Watson one was the topic and he goes off his line a little bit, but he gets further away from the goal.
So people say, well, he hasn't improved his angle.
But if you kick the ball on an arc...
maybe you are improving like you're improving your opportunity and you're getting around the guy on the mark I mean it's interesting there was a period and I just remembered this quite vividly when I was in Brisbane that when you'd play Collingwood Mason Cox would always come down and pretty much stand on the mark for nearly every set shot that you were having against them because their theory obviously was you've got to kick over the man on the mark and the man on the mark's
8'10", or whatever he is, you know.
So it made it a bit more difficult.
And so that rule is what's going to be enforced from now on.
And these two players would just misalign.
Yeah, the thing is with – yeah, that's right.
So you can actually start outside –
the direct line, but you have to end up kicking over the man on the mark.
So, you know, we all talk about the buddy rule, but he can start two or three meters to his, so he's a left footer to the right.
He runs in arcs, but he kicks over the man on the mark.
That's fine.
It's when you start straight and go off the mark that that's, that's the call.
And in the, in the Watson one, I mean, there was the vision from behind, which the guy shot from the crowd, which actually made it look quite good.
