There were health concerns, both of the individual doctors as well as you know, spouses and family and other things.
So all of a sudden we got hit with a wave of um earlier than
than expected either slowdowns or departures from our provider base.
So that's kind of like step one of a three-prongs, you know, process that really hit the us as well as the industry.
Um the second piece was as you mentioned, like inflation really started to rise.
As inflation rose, the cost of doing business just got more expensive.
You know, it's not just as simple as like the you know supplies and you know things you buy off the shelf, equipment, thing of that.
Yeah.
A lot of it had to do with staffing.
All of a sudden, workers in the healthcare industry had a higher demand of compensation and benefits.
And that the the staffing of our dental practices and our home office base, they probably make up more than a third of our expense line items on our PL.
And when you remove the doctors, so when all of a sudden these things are rising in cost, revenue is not rising along with them, those things have an impact.
On the financial results of the industry and the especially our organization.
And yeah, the third piece to that is interest rates in and of themselves.
They followed along with the inflationary trends.
Inflation rates rose from nearly zero to, you know, where we kind of are at today.
I think everyone can, you know, inflation is a word that people understand a whole lot better now than they probably did back then.
Um, you know, you you kind of put those things all together and it made
it for a really challenging time for organizations like ours to really continue to acquire.
Um, you know, when we go and buy practices and when we go through private equity recapitalizations.
