Thank you for having me.

First off, so just from my own personal standpoint, I think I can speak for many Canadians and soccer fans when I say that this event held a special connection because of our hosting of the tournament.

I think it really exposed the Voyager soccer fandom that we have here in Canada.

But it's a very interesting question because

in the Canadian context.

And the reason for that is soccer is a global game, right?

It has this sort of transnational appeal.

You know, if you look at some of the host cities, they are Canada's global cities.

So if you look at the case of Toronto, as a young person growing up in this city...

even prior to us hosting, I always really enjoyed World Cup season.

I'm half Cypriot on my father's side.

I supported Greece as a youngster.

And I remember when Greece won the Euro Cup and I was there on Danforth, this seminal moment in my life as a soccer fan.

But I think my own experience brings up something that is my support for Greece as a teenager that many Canadians also experience

which is this sort of dual level of support, having multiple affiliations because of the transnational connections that many Canadians hold.

So from my standpoint, as someone that's interested in ethnic diversity and multiculturalism,

What's been really interesting to observe is the way that Canadians have been balancing, in a lot of ways, their support for the Canadian national team, which prior to the past two tournaments really hadn't been a mainstay or...

Much of a threat to contend at this tournament.

But now that it is, all of a sudden you've got these competing sort of attachments and affinities that people have for their ethnocultural background, right?

Perhaps their parents' lineage with their parents.
