Now I just think, oh, give it a go.

And if it doesn't work...

You know, this is one of the things that I realized is that people don't want perfection from you.

They want imperfection.

And I can remember saying many years ago, I even said it myself and it took me this long to appreciate what I said, but it's all those cracks and crevices in you that allow people to

hold on and cling to you and relate to you and comfort you through those, if it's a smooth round surface, they can't connect.

I didn't realize that connection is through fallibility.

It's not perfection at all.

And my generation was raised to be superwomen.

We had to have it all and do it all.

And really, we were crumpled heaps.

But to be able to say to someone, how was last night?

Oh my God, what a disaster.

Tell me everything.

That's a point of connection.

You are not a perfect human being.

You're just like me.

And that's what I want to celebrate.

Giving it a go, not whether you succeed or fail, but giving it a go.
