Always a mouthful.

The Paisley handkerchief itself isn't a standalone symbol, but rather the classic pattern used for the hanky code or flagging.

This 1970s nonverbal communication system used colored bandanas, like I said, in back pockets to discreetly signal sexual preferences, kinks, and desired roles.

So I guess the Paisley one's just kind of like the neutral I'm queer one.

Quarantine was such a, I think, pivotal moment for neighborliness in that you were trapped in your apartment, not going to work.

And so you turn to what made sense and what was technically close, which was your neighbors.

And so I felt a shift in Los Angeles with that culture.

So I'm very close with my neighbors downstairs across the hall.

Yeah, it's like both for social reasons, but then also like, hey, I have to be out of town tonight.

Do you mind coming over and feeding the dog or the cats downstairs or water the plants?

Yeah.

So it's like huge value and just such a sense of comfort to know your neighbors, to know thy neighbors.

I would befriend Lonnie.

You saw the cheese board in his yard.

You look at the cheese board in your lap.

I don't know that there's a more obvious signal to befriend someone than a mutual admiration of cheese boards.

Intergenerational friendship.

I love that.

Like more of that.

You know, there's always a consequence too of befriending anyone really.
