So I slammed his laptop on his hands and told him what I thought of him.

So that got me banned from that championship.

So I thought, oh, that doesn't matter.

I'm going to go race at Scarborough, where my dad's career finished.

I thought, right, I'm going to go road racing.

And I did all right.

And then a bloke from an Irish magazine, there was a famous Irish magazine called Irish Road Racing Ireland, it was called.

And the editor was a bloke called Leslie Muir.

And he saw me race at Scarborough.

And he says, all right.

He said, there's a race going on in Ireland next weekend.

You can come across and do that if you want.

I thought, oh, yeah, I'll have a go at that.

Well, and having to work jobs outside of my normal job to be able to earn money, right?

Spend a lot of time in trucks, driving on the docks we didn't need a licence for just to be able to work a night shift to earn enough money to pay the tyre bill for the forthcoming season.

But Ireland was different.

Went to Ireland, raced at Scarborough, earned a few quid, went to Ireland, right?

Me, me mate Jim Andrews and me brother Stu went in a van and went and raced in Ireland.

We got there with the pits and we just said to these lads, where's the track?
