And Dylan, who was doing video, went back to Kansas City, got his bikepacking stuff and joined me for five days.
And those were like the best, like our absolute best day was riding out of, from Custer to Spearfish in the, in the Black Hills.
Um, just like these really cool twisty forest roads.
And even though it's like tourist time, like it really felt like we were just quiet and in there by ourselves.
And, um,
It was a little bit cold and rainy, so it got a little sloppy.
It was just a lot of fun, a lot of climbing to break up the day.
We also had some of our hardest days that if I had been by myself... I mean, we were going batty together, but it was so nice to have someone there with me that was in a similar headspace of like...
Okay, like, I know I'm going to do it, but I'm also going to acknowledge this sucks.
Like, we had, like, three days of just 20-mile-an-hour headwinds, like, with the scenery, like, barely changing.
And we're just, like, crawling.
And the distance between resupplies was so long.
And it was just—I'm like, I don't remember—
Was that straight road in Texas worse on pavement or is this?
Because this is not fun.
Specifically one day, we couldn't even stop to eat our snacks because the second that we stopped and put a foot down, there was like 10 mosquitoes on your leg.
It was just that one day that was just like...
Mosquitoes from hell and no landmarks, nothing.
It was just like these chartreuse, lightly rolling hills that were really pretty when you look at them at first.
But when you look at them for 10 hours, you're just like, cool.
