So a global level that's reasonably high and is rising.
So a global level that's around 5% of deaths are attributed to obesity.
But you also see these quite large regional differences.
So in the Middle East, for example, there are relatively high rates of obesity globally.
It's around 1 in 5 deaths are linked to obesity.
In the US, it's around 1 in 10.
And
At a lower level but growing quite rapidly is in South Asia where it's around 1 in 20.
But across the world you see this rising trend of increased share of deaths being linked to obesity as a risk factor.
When we look at that data, what we see again globally is that rates of childhood obesity are increasing.
So globally, if you go back to 1980, around 5% of children were overweight or obese.
Today, that's around 20%.
So that's quadrupled over that period.
And again, there are still large differences across countries.
So in the US, it's around 40% versus India, which is 11%.
So it's lower generally in low and middle income countries than high income countries.
But across all regions, you've seen this pretty rapid rise over the last few decades.
I think when people think about obesity, a lot of people will often frame it as this kind of personal failing or some people will feel it as this personal failing.
I think what's really stark from the data is that when you're looking at this being an issue affecting people,
two thirds of people or more in actually most countries or many countries, it's clearly not a personal feeling because basically everyone is struggling with it and has struggled with it now for a long time.
