What's dollar cost averaging?
You decide that you're putting money into your investment account at a set date at frequent points in the year, regardless of where the stock market is at.
For example, somebody might decide, hey, at the end of every month, I'm going to take $500 and I'm going to put it in my Roth account.
IRA, regardless of whether stocks are at records or regardless of whether the stocks are down like 20%, I don't care.
I'm just going to put money in every single month.
And historical data has shown that if you continue on with dollar cost averaging, you tend to outperform a lot of other people who are actively managing their portfolios and trying to predict, hey, the market is at top now or market is at bottom.
Why is that?
Simple reason.

So if you try to predict that, hey, I think the market is going to decline in value over the next six months, more often than not, you're going to be wrong.
Attempts to outguess the market rarely pay off.
