So you came on the podcast and it was a wonderful conversation.
We discussed the Tower of the Elephant, which is just a really fun, quintessential Coney and the Barbarian story.
But there's a quote at the beginning of that that I've always
found to be somewhat indicative of Howard's philosophy.
So we're just gonna read it.
He says civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split as a general thing.
How would you so just one of my favorite quotes.
How would you describe Howard's philosophy?
Yeah, no, very good.
Um okay, so one last preliminary.
Uh why did you select this story?
So you and I went back via email.
We kind of talked about, you know, different kinds of stories we could read.
I was excited to read maybe uh a story that wasn't focused on Konian, not because I don't actually really enjoy Konyan the Barbarian, but just because I wanted to actually see Robert's writing style and philosophies substantiated in a different type of character.
So I was drawn towards Solomon Kane.
I was happy that you recommended that.
you recommended red shadows.
So why why did you recommend this text particularly?
Okay, very good.
Uh okay, I'm gonna take back my words because I thought of another preliminary question, even though I'm very excited to jump into the actual text.
