It's quite odd.
I think I was a little bit naive.
I think it helped me that I was so naive because I was the captain of Manchester United and we were having a real bad season.
And I just thought it was...
a bit normal for this to happen.
Right, because of the start, saturated carbon, everything.
And I was really naive to that, oh, you're the captain, it's going to come down, this is the reason they're doing it.
I just thought it was normal.
It was only when I looked back a couple of years later, or a year later, when I think it was a bit... It was over the top.
Yeah, it was over the top.
It just got to a point where it just become...
social media was getting massive it was all for clicks it was a bit like and they were used everyone there was accounts there what used me just yeah every week like it was just relentless and um so i was it helped me that i was so naive at the time that i thought that this was this was this it was pretty normal that to happen to a manchester united captain who when the team isn't performing so that did help me along the way um but yeah like i say it definitely was harder for my family um
And like I say, I went and watched my brother play for MK Dons in the playoff final at Wembley, and I was more nervous watching him play at the final at Wembley than I was playing in the Euros final myself.
You stopped going to away games, though, didn't you?
Yeah, I think, like you said before, like, you was nervous watching me.
That was the only thing what I felt was probably the toughest part because I knew that people was watching...
like praying that I don't do anything wrong that game because it just, everything I did, it just escalated.
Even if I was near the ball when a goal went in the back of the net, it was like, your fault.
And that is the only thing what I'd say, what I found tough is because I knew that all my family, even like you say, you watching it.
I can remember a couple of years before if something happened
