So again, I wouldn't be surprised that they both had offers for more total dollars on their contract and part of the negotiation was we'll take this uh discount either in dollars or term or both and we knew but we wanted no move clause 'cause we don't want to be, you know, playing under this contract on some, you know, bottom bottom feeder team potentially.

Um I mean if they were to activate Kane right now, they could do it by basically sending someone down and they would be just under the cap and be able to activate 'em and then they'd they basically have no cap space.
Um you know m a f a few dollars with nothing nothing they could really do anything with.
Um I think it's worth pointing out 'cause I get this question a lot, like what happens if they think he's out for the year, they trade for a four million dollar
guy and then he comes back well, you know, with five d games left.
Like what would they do?
How c you know, uh how would they get CAF compliance?
The answer is that
The league would not allow the Oilers to make a trade that would put them in a position where they could not be CAF compliant when King came back unless they have like sorry, uh so if it if they do not have certainty that uh from a doctor, uh a signed medical report and doctor's opinion that he will be out through the end of the regular season, the league will then not allow them to make a move that could put them in a position where they will
have no caps no possible way, no cap space to be able to um you know get under the cap.
You know, it's possible there are trades after the deadline, um, you know, before the playoffs start.
But I d you know, in my discussions it's a little bit of a grayer, but like in my discussions, the league is examines us really closely, these LTIR guys, and if there's any
potential real potential that the guy's gonna come back well before before the end of the season and they have really no way to get compliant, they won't let the trade go through.
Like that's what the trade calls for is to check all those things.
So um you know that that that's when we've heard in the past people complain about LTIR and um how teams use it where the guy comes back when the playoffs start.
You you've heard get people like Elliot report that well the league examines these
situations closely.
Well part of that examination is when there's g gonna be a trade that
where basically the player is gonna need to be out for the end of the year.
