We have infinite bananas.
We are insanely rich now because everybody can have as many bananas as they want.
That's kind of what just happened with Chachapiti.
And so this ghost GDP concept, the way that Citrini, the article that went viral about this, it kind of paints this as a disastrous concept, is that ghost GDP is really bad.
It means that somehow this is going to lead to some kind of social collapse.
I think the right way to understand ghost GDP is that that's what it looks like when you get richer from a technology that creates a ton of value.
You got richer.
So when you receive more goods and services, you get richer.
So what is the point of having money?
Let's maybe ask a deeper question, right?
When you say richer, usually what you mean is I have more money.
What's the point of having more money?
Money is a currency that you can use to trade for goods and services.
Okay, so if you're now spending less on other goods and services, you're spending less on healthcare.
That means you have more money to spend on other things.
If you would otherwise have spent that money on going to the doctor and having that doctor prescribe you a blah, blah, blah, right?
Now we have more doctors who are less busy and they can go and treat other things.
That lowers the cost of healthcare.
And it means that you're getting healthcare for free, which means that you can spend the money you would have spent on healthcare on other things.
So when a handyman, right, normally you'd have a handyman come in and help you fix some, you know, your AC is miswired, okay?
