They're like, oh, I've spent so much of my life learning this thing, and I'm so respected, and all my friends know this about me, my mom loves this about me, and I'm going to throw all that away and go do this other thing because I think it's more important.
And, you know, when I was younger and I was doing this where, like, you know, I studied English and philosophy in school.
I have, you know, a bachelor's degree in humanities.
And, you know, most people were like, well, you should go to law school.
And I was like, okay, I guess I should go to law school.
And so I studied for the LSAT and I, like, applied to a bunch of law schools.
And I realized, I think fairly late, that I was like, oh, I'm probably not going to
finish this if I do this like I'm exactly the kind of person I was like reading about people who dropped out of law school and who like got saddled with hundreds of thousand dollars in debt and I just realized reading this that like I'm definitely one of those people I'm totally one of those people that I'm going to spend two years learning as hard as I can and then be like wait this is a total waste of my time what am I doing I should go build a business
And so I was like, oh, I should just skip that.
I should just like skip that and go to Silicon Valley where I want to build a business.
And so I came to Silicon Valley and I decided, okay, well, what do you need to do to learn a business when you have no business skills?
And the answer is, well, you should learn how to code because coding is the only thing that you don't need a credential for.
If you're good at coding, you can just get a job.
And so I was like, okay, I need to go learn how to code.
How do you do that?
The answer is, okay, go take one of these coding bootcamps.
learn very quickly how to code.
And if you outwork everybody else, then maybe you'll be able to get a job in the tech industry, despite the fact that you have this weird background with no formal skills.
And so I was like, okay, I will do that.
And I will work nights and weekends.
