The challenge around it is how do you apply that as they're getting older?

And I think this still forms a part of the foundation, the bit where they're really learning, understanding those three jars.

As you've said, we did it.

I think it's a great idea.

I literally heard someone having this conversation with someone else in a communal kitchen and it's the same, exactly the same concept.

Do we just give them money because they're in the house?

Do we give them money for chores?

Or are some of those chores actually their rent?

It's part of being in the family unit.

And I think probably there'll be a new book that comes out in 10 or 20 years that'll make everyone feel guilty about doing it wrong on the way through, as parenting always is.

There is a thought.

I mean, ANZ put out some research around this just recently around what is the average pocket money.

I think it was sitting somewhere between that $5 to $10 a week for children.

If you're needing them to do a whole lot to get money, I think you'll probably miss the boat.

It's really important, I think, to be having these conversations about money quite early.

So if you're then demanding they've got to be doing something quite specific to get that money, perhaps you're going to miss that opportunity.

But at some point in time, yeah, I mean, should you get paid for washing the dishes?

Probably not.

Yeah, and I think this is where the different ages are really important because I think that initial age where you're just giving them money, and for the chocolates, great example, understanding if they spend it all this week, then next week it's the same amount versus if I don't spend it all this week, maybe I can get nicer chocolate next week.
