Now, before that episode ever even aired, several of our clients reached out with similar problems to each other.
I'm falling behind on my podcast episodes, but I know I still want to release content.
I am just so busy this summer and I'm not feeling inspired to create content.
And honestly, part of the idea of last week's episode came from that being a similar issue every single summer.
That also sparked conversations around an idea that I think every podcaster should keep in their back pocket.
Summer shorties.
Now, I cannot actually claim that phrase, as our client Molly Cahill, she actually calls her summer short episode summer shorties.
And we've had other clients who have also done five-minute episodes over the years.
Whether it's every other week they're doing one or they're doing bonus episodes each week.
We have had
a lot of clients leaned into these shorter episodes as content.
Now, sometimes it isn't that you don't have anything to say.
It's that creating a full, polished, 30 to 45 minute episode feels like so much work when everything in your business is demanding your attention, but you're also trying to balance it with summer.
And this is where summer shorties come into play.
They are exactly what they sound like.
Short podcast episodes, around five minutes or less that keep you showing up consistently without requiring the energy of a full episode.
Now I don't look at these as filler content because they still need to make an impact.
They are supposed to be intentional and valuable and designed for a different season of life.
I think that they are one of the most underrated content formats in podcasting because they force you to ask yourself one really powerful question.
Can I make one meaningful point in five minutes?
