Uh and yeah, these are these are topics I've been thinking about a lot with regard to this this book I'm writing and the need for all of us to shift between these modes. podcast-host

We like we we all need both modes. podcast-host

And I'm not being very precise about what I mean by analysis nor narrative here, but you are using analysis in this way that I was thinking, okay, well that that begins to explain to me why the social sciences get to call themselves sciences, which I've never really appreciated. podcast-host

I I with an undergraduate degree in anthropology, who then went on to get a PhD in biology, my feeling was anthropology was pretty awesome when I had the right professors, but science it was not. podcast-host

Uh physical anthropology, sure, but culture anthropology it's not science. podcast-host

It's not the same kind of thing. podcast-host

You don't have the same standards of evidence, of hypothesis, of prediction, of of even usually um, you know, mm qu any any kind of quantitative analysis. podcast-host

So if if you accept this sort of like podcast-host

natural and physical sciences into social sciences into humanities and arts as a changing ratio of analysis to story. podcast-host

And it doesn't quite work for arts because art isn't story exactly, but it's the least analytical podcast-host

uh and the most sort of intuitive. podcast-host

And so another place that we can play with these ratios and shifting back and forth is the explicit and the intuitive. podcast-host

And so the you know, the hard sciences are the most explicit of the academic professions. podcast-host

And you go over into the humanities with literature, which I've also spent some time in, and you know, and philosophy and uh and and history, you say, Okay, well, there's some you know, with regard to history there's things that happened. podcast-host

But what does it mean and how do we know? podcast-host

And like that it gets it gets you get into the realm of epistemology, which the sciences need too, but how is it that we're making claims of truth? podcast-host
