State and local public health workers 35 and younger are leaving the field at higher rates than older workers.

She says keeping those workers is critical.

Krasna's research finds younger workers value flexible schedules, remote work options, and child care.

She says providing such benefits is especially important now that job stability, a hallmark of public sector work, is on the decline.
