Right.
But not I don't think a harmony.
I think that I think this is this could could we could debate this.
But it seems to me that the line between Fairyland and the real world in Athens is just as stark as it was before.
Right.
Using magic.
And that's interesting, right?
Like the benevolence of the tyrants or the despots in this play is, or lack of, is very interesting to me.
Theseus upholds Hermia's father's claim.
claim right to law because he has to, even though he's sympathetic to the lovers and also he's coercing his own wife into marriage.
Right.
So the, this is one of those plays in which the criticism of the patriarchy is you're not, there's no reaching.
It's just there.
And once again, we have a, you know, maybe even the,
in the origin story, I'm trying to think of earlier comedies, but Shakespeare's known for creating female characters that are much stronger than the male protagonists, right?
And we see that with Helena and to some extent with Hermia for sure, that they're gonna push this through with the man they want, right?
But they're unable to do it without magical intervention.
They have to leave the patriarchal worlds and to go into a world in which we have also Oberon, who is the ruler, but he's distracted.
um because he's trying to tame his own wife right and because of that then we have this magical intervention that gets the girls what they want right but then we also have the triumph of the patriarchy even and i'm actually for patriarchy i'm orthodox right i'm not against patriarchy i'm talking about the artifact of the play um but um we have oberon winning and triumphing over titania in
in a way that is quite shameful to her.
