First investment was at uni and it was a tip
that a mate who put me onto.
The usual.
Was it a mining stock?
It wasn't a mining stock, but it was a startup logistics company.
We were both hot under the collar with a press release, ASX release about a contract to a multinational and...
We, we're both already invested, but, uh, decided to, to double down.
And, you know, so six months later, the stock went to zero.
The contract was manufactured and, uh, yeah, it was a sobering lesson in, uh, what happens when you do a complete lack of due diligence.
I've been running to, uh, defensive assets like private credit ever since.
Yeah.

This idea of I've got money, you need money, let's agree terms, goes back into antiquity, exists for two reasons in my mind.
One is that borrowers need flexible capital.
They need capital that can be deployed nimbly, be deployed in ways that's designed to meet their specific strategic business needs.
And then the
It exists because investors are willing to fund that and borrowers are willing to pay a premium for that flexibility.
Investors can benefit from that.
The role of managers and the managers like Balmain is structuring those specific loan structures to meet those needs while protecting investors' capital and making sure it comes back.
There's probably three things I would call out.
