If there were a reform UK government which were to enact this policy immediately or near immediately after taking office, I think they are essentially banking on the idea that if they take these people to the French coast and attempt to
offload them to France, then there would then be a diplomatic process between France and the UK, which they hope would result in some sort of situation where France would agree to take them.
