You know, everybody has different sets of lived experiences.

So the idea of parsing that out and then having some type of value judgment associated with it is absolutely ridiculous to me.

You know, and yet, though, I'll say and I do say this, that we want everyone's lived experience.

We want everyone.

nuns.

We want single parents.

We want parents that are in two parent headed households.

We want parents that are same gender, different gender, both gender.

Everybody's lived experience is valuable and should be a part of the fabric of our government.

I believe, to have multiple voices involved.

You know, I say all the time when I'm out here on the campaign trail that if I'm elected to the U.S.

Senate, I'd be only one of two parents of an elementary age child in the United States Senate.

Why is that important?

It's important because our education system, particularly early education system, is completely underfunded.

And perhaps that has to do with the fact that these kids are underrepresented in the US Senate.

Why is it also important?

Because the number one cause of death of children today is gun violence.

Yet we keep doing nothing about it.

And perhaps that has to do with the fact that young children that are getting killed with guns are completely underrepresented in the US Senate.
