They have run out of ideas.
They've had over a decade to try to solve this crisis and it has gone from bad to worse, from a disaster to a crisis to a social catastrophe at this point.
And they still continue to slate any solutions put forward from opposition.
Solutions that, by the way, have worked in other countries.
and they just continue with the same failed approach, doubling down on failure.
I think it's extremely disappointing to see that news breaking overnight and this morning.
Very recently, I think the Taoiseach said that they would stand by the people of Ukraine, that Ireland stands with them and supports them.
And like we're in a situation where the war is still going on.
People are still being killed on a daily basis in Ukraine and they're removing supports from people here.
It's surprising.
Absolutely.
And look, everybody wants people who've had to flee a war-torn situation to eventually in the country that they've come to, if they choose to stay, to be able to find their own feet and build a life here and all of those things.
But to do that, David, there should have been an integration programme introduced, not just a pulling of supports from under people with little to no warning.
Where are people supposed to go?
We're in the middle of a housing crisis.
These people have flown a war-torn situation and now they're being completely abandoned.
So this is an argument that we hear sometimes from government and from different quarters that the public very clearly voted on this specific piece of legislation and changing it disrespects the vote of the public.
I totally understand that.
And this is something that I think we really need to address.
So also baked into this legislation and what we voted on was that there would be a review of the legislation.
