So she's on maths now, am I right, Claire?

I know.

And it also is kind of shocking because she only went public, as it were, about her cancer return relatively recently.

So I think it's really knocked people off.

She'd been an amazing advocate for colon cancer during that time.

And I just want to say, I think news like this is exceptionally hard for obviously people directly affected who love Mel, but for anyone with cancer in their lives, because a woman who's still on our screens is gone and it just seems so unfair and so short.

And I think it's really stressful and difficult.

I wanted to share a little bit of a beautiful tribute that Elizabeth Day, the podcaster and novelist, wrote about Mel Schilling.

I didn't really realise they were such good friends.

Because Mel's on the UK version of Maths too.

So they became fast friends and she wrote a beautiful tribute to her.

But I just wanted to read this little bit.

It said, Mel's attitude was always, why not?

Why not aim high?

Why not dance till the early hours?

Why not have another spicy margarita?

Why not meet the love of your life at 39?

This is something we both had in common, says Elizabeth.

Why not have a baby at 42, even if she had to go through miscarriage and IVF before her beloved daughter Maddie arrived?

Why not build a phenomenal life for herself?
