These days, I feel like I'm constantly chasing this validation that I am the person outside in the world that matches up with the person that I think I am on the inside.

You can't ever see yourself from the outside.

Well, I don't know even that I believe it these days so much, but who I hope I am is an artist.
I hope that I can...
look myself in the mirror and feel like I deserve to be doing the music that I'm doing, that I get to like make this record and play these shows and write songs and feel like I have earned that somehow as opposed to it being a lark, some kind of daydream, some kind of self-indulgence.
I don't know.
It's funny because if someone else were writing songs, I would never judge them for the act of trying.
Right.
I mean, songs or anything else, if someone said, this is something I really love and I really care about and I'm pursuing, I'd be like, great.
