Once they've seen the Argentines making Jerry World shake and the Ecuadorians on the rocky steps and the Tartan army, all that stuff does have an impact because it changes everything.

I think if it's not important, then that's quite depressing.

And I think it's inevitable that lots and lots of kids in the US and around the world will have been watching this for the first time.

You know, it's always someone's first World Cup and there is something magical about it.

And as much as, you know, you can quibble about the format and about whether some of those early games in the group phases, whether they had like lasting nourishment or not, that is a genuine debate.

I don't know whether the standard of play has been as high as some of the World Cups.

Maybe it has, maybe it hasn't.

I don't think the standard of play is especially important.

But we've had loads of great moments.

There's been loads of great stories to follow.

There's been romance.

There's been drama.

There's been all the stuff that makes us love football.

And that will help.
