um and i uh but i tried uh cocaine when i was in high school and then not throughout college uh i dabbled uh maybe and uh but it wasn't really around it was almost my problem was alcohol um and um

And it remained alcohol until I walked into that park, which I describe in the book, is, you know, I left a... I was in an outpatient program, which I was committed to, and I relapsed.

And I was in the middle of a divorce and separated.

And I had spent... I'd done everything to try to get back.

And I'd gone to...

like 45 days of an inpatient program.

And then I did about three months of a sober coach in which I blew into a breathalyzer that took your picture.

whenever the sober coach would call with the commitment that if I failed it, that I would go back into treatment.

And I did that.

that wasn't good enough for, um, for whatever reason.

Um, and so then I committed to doing an outpatient program, which was, uh, five days a week and, um, you know, uh, about five hours a day from like eight to two.

And, um, and I, and I relapsed and, um,

And I told them that I relapsed and they wanted me to take a, they wanted me to pee in a cup.

And I said, look, I relapsed, I used cocaine, but I drank primarily and I used cocaine, but that's what I did, I'm telling you.

the i didn't want it as any part of a record in which what people don't fully understand is the kind of the uh it's the the conundrum that some addicts find themselves in in treatment facilities that are also facing like legal issues or divorces or things like that is that it's not protected by hipaa so you can go into a rehab and be in the middle of a divorce and have all of that of those records

Gotcha.

They can be subpoenaed.

Or if you're in a civil case, I mean, like so many, which is a real, I think, oversight on the part of people as it relates to privacy and getting people to be as honest as possible.

And so I was like, look, I'm telling you, I relapsed.

I mean, what's the difference if you have a, they said, well, you can't come back.
