Now, I don't think people wanted a narrative.
They were open to sacrificing themselves for their neighbor, for like a national sense of solidarity and looking after one another.
I don't think that it's an impossible argument for a politician to make.
I think if a politician comes out, there has now been several instances.
First one was when Donald Trump tried to humiliate Zelensky in the White House.
Second one was when the Iran war started.
Over and over we get these, and actually you could say the third one for the Liberation Day tariffs, just these moments of like emergency, all of them triggered by Trump.
where you just level with people and be like, we're now living in very, very serious times.
Britain is clearly unable to live under an American umbrella.
We are going to have to have our own independent, autonomous, strategic posture in defense in order to defend ourselves, but also in order to project our values.
On that basis, I think that you could find a public who are willing to engage in that.
I don't think that's beyond what a politician can achieve.
And what is the fucking point of politics if they can't achieve it?
These things are hard.
But it can be done by talented politicians.
