I think that we recognize that there are a lot of good research is investigator-driven through the National Health Medical Research Council.
But also a lot of research is research which can be commissioned, if you like, to help delivering health care properly.
And quite a lot of that, it's better if there's an agenda set by somebody other than the researchers doing the work.
We recognize that there are, if you like, holes in the system.
We build capacity through
Through training researchers to do what they like to do.
And of course, that's what they want to do then, once you've trained them.
But we also have to then tackle the bigger problems which are outside of the experience at the moment.
Public health, for example, gets underdone in the system.
It's there, there's funds within the NH and MRC for public health research, but in reality, it's a very small part of the public health research budget that we would like to see spent.
And the MRC.
RFF can commission work in public health research, health services research that may not be part of the agenda of the individuals who might otherwise
it has nine billion dollars in a fund at the moment.
It plans to be twenty billion dollars.
The interest off that money will be available in perpetuity to fund health and medical research.
There is a set of priorities for research.
There is a strategy behind the priorities.
And there are a number of missions and other funding vehicles, most of which are
open f and contestable, some of which are contestable but s in specific purposes.
