And I think last night was a different level.

But I think where he's frustrated me at times has not necessarily been when he's been on the ball.

And he can be what you'd say is a nice footballer to watch.

Hold on to it a little bit too much.

I think previous managers have all alluded to that.

But I've seen him do it before when he switches off.

I don't think he's ever been that passionate about defending.

I think he feels like, not that it's beneath him, that would be harsh, but he enjoys doing the stuff far more.

Now, I know he did a stint at right-back last season and did it to a decent standard, in fairness, all things considered.

But I don't think he's ever been one-handed where he's really grasped that understanding of...

the other side of the game where you've got to dig in a little bit and you've got to really kind of, you know, backs against the wall.

You've got to kind of put your body in the way.

You've got to get back in and tuck in for your mate.

I've never really seen a lot of that.

I've seen him, as I say, be a lovely footballer at times and he's influenced games and nice touches here and there and he's strung three or four games together and you've gone, yeah, all right.

But I've never seen a footballer who's really warranted

playing maybe more than he has maybe last season aside when McAllister's having a real bad time you think well maybe Curtis could have done a little bit more but John still gets loads of appearances it almost feels now like it's one of them where despite Liverpool's problems in the transfer market and not having enough bodies and that's a concern of mine and I spoke about that earlier in the week you're thinking well you let him one go but fuck me boys we haven't got many to come in but it almost feels like you're at a point where you might just have to shake hands like John said yeah

Honestly, I just can't disagree more.

First of all, I think his attitude probably isn't right.

I don't think he's a lovely footballer.
