I think football's such a quick turn around over a space of a couple of years.

And it's three years now since Liverpool's had a first-team midfielder.

And I think that's a long time for a midfield not to develop.

I think we can all say that when they signed those footballers and they brought them in and they sort of replaced the Hobartfield in one summer, they were still lacking some of them.

And then we had the KIC though.

Transfer links maybe because maybe they don't know what they're actually trying to get at the moment.

And I think that all comes from the change of manager pretty late on.

The transfer plans were probably ripped off.

That's the only thing that I'm getting from it.

But surely still that Iriola will know what type of player he wants.

If I'm really, really honest, I don't know what Liverpool want.

Do they want another one?

Do they want someone who is a proper ball winner?

Naturally, for me, who's watched...

football my whole entire life.

I like a ball winner.

I like someone who can get around the pitch and make you feel more secure.

Having said that, Adam Wharton, if Liverpool was to go and get him, he's very Michael Carrick and Michael Carrick was fantastic at Man Utd and won league titles and he was such a cultured player himself and progressed the ball and I think that's what Adam Wharton would bring.

It just seems to have died down.
