And then they're also looking at potentially
uh changing some regulations that would make it easier for US ranchers to rebuild the size of the US cattle herd, which is fundamentally what has been keeping prices so high right now.
Yeah, so Brazil and Australia are the biggest countries that export supplies.
Um and so if these tariffs
uh were to be reduced, we would likely see more shipments from those countries.
The Trump administration has also moved to increase imports from Argentina, which is also a very big beef producer.
a little bit of a disparate imp a disparate market in some senses because a lot of the imports that we get uh from other countries are actually in the form of lean trimmings and so they end up getting blended with US product to produce, like, say, hamburger meat or ground beef in general.
So definitely it would lower prices in the US, but they're also not like a direct one to one swap, for example.
Like the imports we're getting wouldn't be swapping out your filet mignon, for example, which would likely be a US produced product.
Yeah, well, it seems that they may be looking at directing the small business administration to increase loans for US ranchers.
One of the reasons that the US cattle herd has been so small is because ranchers haven't felt that they have
uh the stability both in terms of finances as well as just like the drought conditions that their land are facing uh in order to be able to expand the herd.
I think it's really both those two things.
I think people are looking for a more stable financial market.
Interest rates have been a big issue for ranchers and farmers more generally as well.
And then the other thing is just looking at access to land for their animals to graze on and the amount of rainfall that that land gets.
Yeah, there's been a big push on the US rancher end to have better product labeling because I think right now, um, the labeling is a little bit murky in terms of like what is made in the USA and what isn't.
It's gonna take a while.
um, depending on the quantity and where they're coming from and really how quickly that supply improves.
Um, but when it comes to like a more fundamental, I think, resetting of the market, I think we're definitely looking at least into twenty twenty seven.
