She lived in the shadow of her extraordinary older sister.

She lived in the shadow of David Hicks.

But she never wanted to be in the limelight.

So it was only once I started the research did I realize, actually, this life, even though it may have been in the shadows, was equally as brilliant as all the rest.

I was lucky.

I was very close to her.

And she, by the time I came along, I've got an older brother and sister who were very much brought up by nannies.

And my mother was travelling with my father as a sort of dutiful wife.

And a lot with my grandfather because he needed to have a hostess or a companion with him.

But really, by the time I came along, my mother was much more at home.

And we share the same sense of humour.

We share the same love of Charbonnel Walker chocolates.

We share the same love for ridiculous dachshunds.

So we get on very, very well.

So I think I was very lucky in not only her being at home, but also us just getting on well as people.

So we're very close.

but she had many rows well she didn't actually that's not right but i was going to tell a wonderful story of my father who did like to row but my mother wouldn't row back but the only time that i've ever heard of her actually raising her voice at him when he became so tiresome over something she took her glass of coca-cola and threw it
