um they did something wrong and they want to change and move on from it right they want to make it right but when somebody doubles down on an offensive comment right when they double down say oh no that's not what i meant you're crazy for thinking this is offensive i'm completely right about this then that can be really like it leaves a bad taste in your mouth like okay

In this scenario, we have a few coworkers complaining about their very stubborn CEO's new policy, expecting everybody to be dressing in very professional business attire, like a suit and tie, when it's clear that the company culture is a lot more casual and nobody's happy about this.

So they said he doubled down when even with all the angry emails flying at him from all of the irritated, irate employees, he's still stuck with his original decision that he made for whatever reason.
