with the inflation crisis, with the
affordability crisis, I think people just really feel like the rug has been pulled from under them.
And so I think that there is this sense that the class war has been waging against pretty much everyone who's not already a billionaire.
And so yeah, of course, all of this stuff is going to gradually be channeled back into arts and entertainment.
The thing I just kept coming back to when I was rewatching these shows is that they're so good about looking at the ways that
money or like a scarcity of money ends up really seeping into and poisoning your relationships.
I mean, you know, I don't think I'm the only person
in the world who grew up watching their parents fight about money.
And that is just such a core part of my childhood and what I remember about growing up.
And I think watching these shows, watching these marriages fall apart because of arguments about money, watching...
people feel like they can't trust one another because of how they deal with money or how they don't deal with money.
There's something really fundamentally heartbreaking about that, but also something so
relatable.
I think a really good example is that in DTF, there is a married couple, and the husband becomes friends with this weatherman, and then the husband's wife also begins an affair with the same weatherman.
And even this extramarital affair becomes really...
marinated in the financial troubles of like the married couple yes and they get together and of course there's discussions about masculinity and sex and like how
like intimate can you really get with another person blah blah blah but at the end of the day they're just sitting around talking about like oh you know like my husband's inability to deal with the money um like this woman is having conversations with her affair partner about like her husband's money spending habits and like it's just impossible to get away from
And I don't know.
It feels weird to say, like, I love that.
